Spicy, crispy, chicken, three things that are simply wonderful, and when they are put together they become amazing. The only thing that can top this to make this amazing thing into a burger. I've always loved chicken burgers, but they have to be the deep fried cripsy type, grilled chicken burgers have the potential to be quite lame, there are exceptions of course, such as the portuguese variants and some homemade ones, anyway.... I remember when the McChicken was launched, I was working at McDonalds at the time and we all loved eating the filthy patties straight outta the warmer, how McDonalds made the worst and usually thrown away parts of a chicken mixed with water, salt and probably alot of other crap taste so good, we'll never know. Anyway since then just about everyone has jumped onto the deep fried chicken burger bandwagon, and in the last few years an explosion of spicy variants of these burgers have come out.
Introducing the SCCBC - The Spicy Crispy Chicken Burger Championships. Not eight, not 12, but sixteen different SCCB's will battle it out, tournament style till we have a winner. Over the course of the next few weeks I will put these burgers head to head, looking at the chicken quality, the construction, the bun type and of course, most importantly the spiciness of the burger. Nothing will be added or omitted from the burger. It will be ordered and consumed (sometimes partly) as they intended. I will also do my best to do each competitor in a given match at the same time, but this will obviously not always be possible, this however should not be an issue as these are chains and should deliver the same consistent burger each and every time.
